Scatto — Terms of Use

Last updated: {{ DATE }} Provider: Redcroft Lab (REDCROFT LAB PTY LTD, ABN 47 703 493 967, Suite 2, Level 3, 13-15 Wentworth Ave, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia) Contact: scatto@redcroftlab.com

These terms are the agreement between you and Redcroft Lab (“we”, “us”) for using the Scatto app and the services behind it (“Scatto”). By creating an account or using Scatto you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use Scatto.

1. The short version

  • Scatto records and analyses your rides, runs, walks and workouts. It is a training tool, not a medical device and not a safety device.
  • You are responsible for how and where you exercise. The road comes first, the screen second.
  • Your account is yours. Be honest in what you record and decent to other people.
  • Paid plans are billed by Apple and renew until you cancel them in your Apple account.
  • You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.

2. Who can use Scatto

You must be at least 13 years old to use Scatto. When you sign in we ask your age: your Apple account confirms it or you declare it yourself. If you are under 13 we cannot create your account, and any account that was opened is deleted.

If you are under 18, your parent or guardian has to authorise the use of your data before you continue: you hand them the phone, they read what we keep and authorise it with their name. We ask for this in every country.

If you are under 16, Scatto is just yours. You can record your outings, keep your journal, train, have a coach and share live with your safety contacts. The social side (friends, feed, crews and bolts) opens at 16, and on leaderboards you appear without your name. This is what Australia’s social media minimum age law requires, and we apply it in every country.

If you declared a minor’s age, you cannot raise it yourself in the app: it changes when your Apple account confirms it or when your date of birth shows you have reached it.

You need an Apple or Google account to sign in, and you are responsible for keeping access to it.

One person, one account. Do not create an account for someone else or pretend to be another person.

3. Your health and your safety

Scatto does not give medical advice. Heart-rate zones, maximum heart rate, training load, power, calories and similar figures are estimates built from formulas and from the data your sensors provide. Maximum heart rate in particular is estimated from your age unless you enter a measured value. Estimating a number is not the same as recommending that you train at it.

Talk to a doctor before starting or changing an exercise programme, especially if you have a heart condition, are pregnant, are recovering from injury or have been inactive. Stop and seek help if you feel pain, dizziness or shortness of breath.

You are responsible for your own safety. Obey traffic laws. Do not operate the app in a way that takes your attention from the road, the trail or the people around you. Navigation, route suggestions, map data, weather and “dangerous track” notices come from third parties and from other users; they can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. A route shown in Scatto is not a promise that it is legal, open, rideable or safe. Use your own judgment and turn back when in doubt.

Tracks and leaderboards are not an invitation to take risks. No time on a board is worth running a light or descending beyond your ability. We may remove a track that is reported as dangerous.

Workout routines and templates in Scatto describe sessions drawn from public sources that are named in the app. Zones, repetitions and rest times are our adaptation. They are general information, not a plan prescribed for you.

4. Your account

Keep your sign-in secure and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You can sign out or delete your account in Settings. Deleting your account is described in section 11.

Don’t share your account or your subscription with someone else. Coaches may charge their athletes for coaching them; what you may not do is resell access to Scatto itself.

5. Plans, trial and payments

Scatto has a free plan and paid plans (“Pro” and “Explorer”). What each plan includes, and its price in your currency, is shown in the app before you buy.

  • Free trial. New accounts get a period of full access, whose length is shown in the app. It needs no payment method and does not turn into a paid subscription on its own. When it ends, your account continues on the free plan and your recorded activities remain yours.
  • Billing. Paid plans are sold as auto-renewing subscriptions through Apple’s App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Cancelling. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings, not inside Scatto. Deleting the app or your Scatto account does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple and refund requests go to Apple, under Apple’s terms. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law.
  • Price and feature changes. We may change prices or what a plan includes. A price change for an existing subscription is notified through Apple and applies from the next renewal.
  • Codes. We may give access through promotional codes. Codes have no cash value and cannot be sold.

6. What you put into Scatto

“Your content” is what you record or create: activities and their routes, sensor data, track names, crew names, events, routines, comments and reactions.

You keep ownership of your content. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process and display it as needed to run Scatto for you and, where you have chosen to share it, for the people you share it with. That licence ends when the content or your account is deleted, with two exceptions: the route and name of a public track you created, which we keep showing to others without your name, and the name of a crew you created, which passes to its longest-standing member (section 11). The licence covers the companies that host and process data for us (named in the privacy policy), only to do that job.

When you share an image or video outside Scatto, where it goes from there is up to you and the place you posted it.

We may also use your content in aggregated form that does not identify you — for example, how many people have ridden a track, or that several riders reported a track as dangerous — to show it to others and to improve Scatto. If you delete your account, your part is removed from those counts too.

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely, without owing you anything for them.

Tracks you create are meant to be shared: the route of a public track and its name are visible to other users, and other people’s times on it belong to them. If you delete your account, tracks you created remain available without your name.

7. Fair play

Leaderboards only mean something if the entries are real. Scatto checks activities automatically for signs that they were not done under your own power (for example, in a vehicle). An activity that does not pass may be excluded from leaderboards, tracks, training load and your bike’s odometer; you can review it and remove the affected stretch. This is an automated check and it can be wrong; write to us if you think it was. We may remove results or restrict accounts that repeatedly record false activities.

Record with your own account, on your own effort, with honest data.

8. Other people

Scatto has friends, crews, crew events, live sharing and coach-athlete links. When you use them:

  • Do not harass, threaten, impersonate or discriminate against anyone, or pretend to be Scatto or someone on our team.
  • Do not post content that is unlawful, sexually explicit, hateful or that reveals someone else’s private information.
  • Do not use Scatto to follow or locate a person who does not want that.
  • Do not send spam or use Scatto to advertise without our written agreement.

You can block a person and report content or behaviour from inside the app. We review reports and may remove content, close crews, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

If something infringes your rights. If you believe content in Scatto — a track, crew or event name, a comment — infringes your copyright or trademark, write to scatto@redcroftlab.com with:

  • what the content is and where it appears;
  • what right you hold, and how it is infringed;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, and that your notice is accurate;
  • your name, contact details and signature (typed is fine).

We review every notice, may remove the content, and tell the person who posted it, who can reply with their side. If they do, we may put the content back unless you tell us you have started legal action. Sending a notice you know is false can make you liable. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.

You choose what you share. Sharing an outing live, joining a crew outing or accepting an invitation to ride together shows your position to the people involved while the outing lasts. Privacy zones hide the parts of your routes near places you choose from your friends’ view. Read the Privacy Policy for the details and the limits. Share your position only with people you trust: while it lasts, they know where you are.

Crew events are organised by members, not by us. We don’t check the route, the pace, the people or the conditions. Decide for yourself whether an event is right for you.

Coaches. If you link with a coach, they can assign you sessions and see how you performed them. A coach using Scatto is not our employee or agent, and we are not responsible for the advice they give.

9. Our content and your licence

The app, its design, text, graphics and software belong to Redcroft Lab or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Scatto on devices you own or control, under these terms and Apple’s usage rules.

You may not:

  • copy, modify, resell or rent Scatto, or try to get at its source code, except where the law allows it;
  • get around the limits or protections we use, or reach Scatto through anything other than our app;
  • use bots, scripts or scrapers to collect data from Scatto, or copy other people’s data out of it — their routes, times, names or profiles;
  • use data from Scatto to train or test an AI model, or to build a dataset or a competing product;
  • create accounts in bulk or use Scatto to interfere with other people’s use of it.

If you find a security problem, tell us at scatto@redcroftlab.com. We will not take action against good-faith research that reports to us first and does not touch other people’s data.

Maps, routing, weather and health features rely on services from Mapbox, Apple and others, and their terms also apply to those parts.

Other people’s trademarks. Garmin, Polar, COROS, Suunto, Whoop, Amazfit, Fitbit, Apple Watch and other product names mentioned in Scatto are trademarks of their respective owners. We mention them only to indicate compatibility; this does not imply endorsement or affiliation. Scatto is not affiliated with HYROX.

10. Availability and changes

We work to keep Scatto running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Recording works without a connection; features that come from our servers need one. We may add, change or remove features. If we make a change that materially reduces a paid plan you have already paid for, you can cancel and ask Apple for a refund for the unused period.

11. Ending your account

You can delete your account in Settings → how you sign in → delete my account. Nothing is deleted on the day you ask: you are signed out, and after 14 days the account and its data are deleted permanently. If you sign in again within those 14 days you can keep the account.

When the account is deleted, your activities, routes, times, bikes, sensors, routines, privacy zones and connections are removed. Tracks you created stay available to others without your name, and crews you owned pass to their longest-standing member; if you were the only member, the crew is deleted. Crew events you called are deleted.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where we are required to by law. Where reasonable we will tell you first and give you a chance to respond.

If we remove your content or restrict your account, we will tell you why. You can ask us to look again within six months, and a person will review it.

12. Warranties and liability

Scatto is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we exclude warranties that are not written here, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of data, or for injury, damage or loss arising from your exercise, your route or your reliance on figures shown in the app. We work hard so you lose nothing — an outing that gets cut off saves itself up to where it got — but we cannot promise that data will never be lost.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights that cannot be excluded by law, including the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law and any rights you have under the consumer law of your country. Where the law lets us limit our liability for breach of such a guarantee, it is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

Where the law allows a limit, our total liability to you is the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and A$50. {{ REVIEW WITH THE LAWYER }}

13. Governing law

If you have a problem with Scatto, write to us first. Most things get fixed faster that way.

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. If you are a consumer you may also have the right to bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Scatto after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, you can delete your account.

15. Apple

These terms are between you and Redcroft Lab, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Scatto or its content, has no obligation to provide support, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms with the right to enforce them. If Scatto fails to conform to a warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation.
